BioI wrote my first novel in college at the University of Wyoming, played lead guitar in Pinky’s bar as a member of “Suzy Q and the Quad City Ramblers,” Got an English degree, then an engineering degree, worked a lot, got married to Traci (probably the best thing to ever happen), wrote several books with Raymond Dean White, retired recently from said engineering and started writing again.
Now I write cheerfully demented novels about con artists and overweight PIs, play guitar a lot (on a very well used and loved 1954 Martin D-18 (for those of you who have guitar lust—centerfold picture available on request) and generally am having the best retirement ever.

Ghost Coach Duane Lindsay
I first heard about the Ghost Coach in the halls of Jefferson Davis Junior High school. It was the last week of school and the heat was unbearable. Outside was summer vacation; freedom and green grass and blue lakes with cool water. Inside was heat and boredom and Bobby Spader and Jiggs Roche giggling over a magazine at a back corner table in the cafeteria. I came up behind Jiggs to see what they were reading and saw him holding a battered copy of Playboy. The model he was looking at was looking back at him, standing topless next to a saddle on a sawhorse in a barn. She was wearing red cowboy boots and leather chaps and a big white Stetson hat because, evidently, women did that sort of thing.
