Russell Nohelty

Bio

I like to think of myself as Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, and Chuck Palahniuk's love baby. If you like them, you're almost guaranteed to like my stuff.

For the rest of you...

Yes. I understand they are all men.

No. I don't know who they knocked up. I guess my mom.

That's correct. You heard me. I'm sticking with it.

Look, it's just a metaphor. You're thinking too hard about it. And I love that about you.

The goal of my writing is to combine entertaining plots with thought-provoking ideas. I hope to incite conversations with the stories that I tell, but without the impossible density some literary novels face when dealing with difficult subjects.

I love thinking about reality, perception, righteousness, justice, religion, piety, love and the origins of it everything. Since that's what I love thinking about, it's also what I love to write, but I try to do so in an entertaining way real human people can enjoy. To me, entertainment is paramount.

That's why I've always been drawn to pulp novels; the kinds where the main character is pulled to an inevitable (there's that word again) conclusion; the ones where the story is paramount and the plot moves like lightning.

Unfortunately, I've always felt a bit empty after reading them, kind of like when you eat celery. I mean I know I ate it, and enjoyed it enough, but what was the point?

Did you say deliciousness? Go to the corner and think about what you've done.

My books tend to merge these two disparate ideas; fun, fast-paced pulp novels and layered, deep philosophical tomes.

If you don't wanna think deeply about stuff...cool. You'll enjoy my books just for the sheer fun of it. However, if you do want a deep dive into the metaphysical machinations of our world, well that's in there too.

What would you do during the Apocalypse? How would you survive? Those are the questions that have plagued Katrina for years. All the good boys and girls were raptured up to Heaven, leaving the rest of humanity to ask a single, solitary question: “Why not me?” Hellspawn rose from Hell and rampaged across the world, eviscerating all they came across. It was bedlam, Hell on Earth. There was nothing anybody could do to stop it. Then the Hellspawn got bored and settled for a quiet life in the suburbs.
