Jennifer Stevenson

Bio

Jennifer Stevenson lives in the Chicago area with her stagehand husband and two bossy kittens. She thinks up new uses for old sex demons, adores trees, birds, horses, dogs, insects, swamps, and large bodies of water, and exercises way too much. She loves roller derby. She believes that comedy will save us all.

The Hinky Brass Bed SAMPLE Jennifer Stevenson

SAMPLE THE FIRST BOOK IN THE HINKY CHICAGO SERIES! Dial 311 to complain about magic! Jewel Heiss's job is answering Chicago residents' complaints about magic. Da Mayor's Hinky Policy is "Don't ask, don't tell, cope." She performs hinky-containment-and-removal services, gaslights citizens when necessary ("Ma'am, that pigeon isn't smoking, it's gathering nesting materials.") and helps people find positive ways of quietly living with magic. Jewel's priorities skew when a con artist, a lonely-hearts scam, and a magic bed start wrecking her best friend’s marriage. She can prosecute the con artist, or she can rescue the incubus trapped in his "treatment" bed, or she can save her best friend's marriage...but not all three. Ooops...

Repo Babe Jennifer Stevenson

Janie gets a summer internship with her aunt’s company, moving displaced souls from one religion’s afterlife to another. Janie’s gonna be a repo babe. A very short story in the universe of SLACKER DEMONS. ________ This story is the first thing I ever wrote in the Slacker Demons series universe. I wrote it for a brilliant anthology called “What Not To Do As A Young Witch” that never got published, alas, because two key players’ coven imploded. But the notion of Heaven and Hell becoming these cumbersome, unwieldy, completely nonfunctional bureaucracies got a grip on me, probably because I spent so many years as an office temp. Look for a new series in this universe called Coed Demon Sluts in spring of 2017. I love dark chocolate, Chicago, and crows.
